Membership in the Sons of Confederate Veterans is open to all male
descendants of any veteran who served honorably in the Confederate armed
forces. Membership can be obtained through either direct or collateral
lines. Kinship to a veteran must be documented genealogically. The
minimum age for membership is 12. Individuals unable to find a Confederate ancestor can still join the Sons of Confederate Veterans as a Confederate Legionnaire. If you would like more information please contact one of the Officers listed below. The Sons of Confederate Veterans (SCV) is the direct heir of the United Confederate Veterans (UCV), and is the oldest hereditary organization for male descendants of confederate soldiers. Organized in 1896, the SCV serves as a historical, and patriotic organization dedicated to the preservation of a true history of the WBTS era (1861-1865). One of the most important missions of the Sons of Confederate Veterans today is the defense of confederate symbols, monuments, and the good name of our confederate heroes, which have come under attack by various racist and political organizations around the country. The SCV is a dynamic organization which offers members a wide range of activities at the local, state and national level. Preservation work such as the marking and upkeep of confederate soldiers graves, historical re-enactments, scholarly publications, regular meetings and social events are a few of the activities offered by local units, which are called "camps".
