Military Service: Enlisted August 5, 1863 (age 42) at Enterprise, Clarke County Mississippin in Gen. Frank C. Armstrong's Brigade, 2nd Mississippi Cavalry Regiment, Company C - The regiment was also listed as the 4th and 42nd in official reports - Muster roll dated December 23, 1863 lists Pvt. S.W. Kinard at hospital in Marion (Alabama?) - Roll dated November 3, 1864 has Pvt. Kinard at recruiting camp by order of Gen. William H. Jackson - Discharged May 4, 1865 after the army was surrendered at Citronelle, Alabama by Gen. Richard Taylor.
